The Nang Suites – a boutique hotel – is located in the coastal city of Da Nang, 500m from the beautiful My Khe beach. The Nang was born from the idea of ​​sharing a living space…a welcoming space filled with sunshine, breeze and greenery…a natural, peaceful and friendly retreat without the stiffness of a conventional hotel… and to somehow overcome the obstacle of creating inner open space in an area that is characterised by narrow, tightly packed and stacked buildings.

The block exterior has a clean and modern appearance of tidily stacked blocks. A hand-woven wooden folding door occupies the entire façade of the ground floor. The net-like structure allows air to flow into the building. Inside, a vertical sky-lit void connects the ground to the sky, and exposes the space to natural breezes and the shifting sunlight. Tropical plants flourish from the ground up, on every internal and external balcony. The Nang’s “void” paradoxically represents a space of connection and content. Where people can connect with each other, and with the natural elements.

The buildings’ 4-stories are organised into “separate” and “common” spaces. There are 8 suites located on the upper floors, dislocated from one another for added privacy.  A co-living space on the ground floor encourages unity and interaction through the provision of a kitchen, dining and seating areas, library, movie room, laundry room and parking area.

The interiors of the private suites give rise to sensations of warmth, liberty and boldness. They are inspired by 1960s Western European designs, expressing a transition between past and present and emerging into contemporary lifestyles. The use of daring colours and solid geometric shapes is a characteristic of mid-century styles. Dark walnut accentuates the striking colours, the favoured grindstone finish of the previous decades has a strong presence, and the bespoke tiles are a vivid variation of patterns from this time.
